Gala Report

During the last 12 months the club took part in 16 Galas these ranged from the Herts Major League, NFT meets to C grade novice galas. Over 78 swimmers represented the club and many for the first time. In addition we had our first year in the Chiltern League.

This has been a good year for the club during which the senior squad did extremely well consolidating its position in the second division of the Herts Major League finishing a very credible 4^th overall. Again the junior squad performed very well and were only deprived of a top six finish by a miss interpretation of the selection policy for which I take full responsibility for. As you will no doubt be aware the club rejoined the Chiltern League following an absence of several years this proved to be a very successful and rewarding league allowing us to introduce many new swimmers to the competitive side of swimming for the first time but adding a fun edge to it. All swimmers can be justly proud of the effect and commitment shown at all the events during the year.

Again the support given by the parents both in the stands and on poolside has been excellent but we are always on the lookout for more willing volunteers. On behalf of the team we would like to take this opportunity to thank the out going Club Captains Stephanie Holpin and Jonathan Harding for all their hard work.

2006 will be a challenging and busy period with the Club having entered over 20 Gala’s. On a brighter note we have entered a second team into the Herts Major League that will allow many more swimmers to represent the Club this year.
