Numbers competing in both the Club Championships and the 200 metre competitions increased again in 2005. An average of 91 swimmers entered each of the three club championship swims compared to 80 last year while 59 competed in the 200 metre competition, 12 more than last year.
The girls competitions were particularly close this year with points tied in two age groups and a difference of just one point between first and second in two others. The boys competitions were more clear-cut with only the over 17s being close on points. The five records broken during the year were:
Congratulations to all of our record breakers particularly Stuart Long who has broken 10 records in 6 different events in the last 5 years. Peter Ridout broke a record that had stood for 24 years while Stephen Raynsford broke a 12 year old record.
As usual a big thank you to those who have helped make the events run smoothly. The first Club Championships for 2006 are just 4 weeks away on 26th February please try to enter before the half term holidays.
Other championship dates are 24 June and 18 November. The 200m competition is on 7 May
