Gala Report

During the last 12 months the club took part in 15 galas these ranged from the Herts Major League to C grade novice galas. Over 80 swimmers represented the club and many for the first time.

This has been another excellent year for the club during which we saw the senior squad maintain its second division statues finishing a respectable 6th overall in the Herts Major League. The junior squad under the leadership of Phil Holpin performed fantastically obtaining a well-deserved promotion to the Herts Peanut League First Division (It has been many years since we achieved this). In addition we had some excellent results in our other Galas. There have been some amazing individual performances during the year but it would be fair to say that it has been the determination shown by the team as a whole that has gained these results. Well done to all the swimmers.

Again as in previous years the support given by parents in the stands and on Poolside has been first class. On behalf of the team we would also like to thank the outgoing Captains Michael Macdonald and Carly Ridout who have been excellent role models for the younger swimmers. Thank you both very much.

The next 12 months will see a very busy and interesting period for the squad with nearly 30% of the team representing the club for the first time.

Unfortunately we have to finish on a sad note and bid farewell to my sidekick Phil Holpin who after 2 very successful years as Team Manager has decided to stand down but on a happier note is still going to carry on teaching. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Phil on behalf of all the swimmers for his unstinting support during the last few years.
