Chair's Report

Well, 2012 was a great year for British sport generally as we hosted a fantastic Olympic Games and it was a great year for Bushey ASC as well as our swimmers continued to perform well with widespread improvement in both technique and times. Interest in joining Bushey ASC remains high and we have welcomed a significant number of new swimmers to the club during the year with a wide range

of prior swimming experience. We hope that they and their families will find us a welcoming and friendly club offering both swimming and social opportunities for them.

We rely wholly on volunteers to administer the running of the Club and to teach and coach all our swimming sessions. We have seen a number of committee members and teachers leave Bushey over 2012 and I am grateful to them for the time and effort they have devoted to the club, for some over many years. I am also pleased that we have had new volunteers come forward to help poolside as

teachers and officials and in other roles. As ever, it would be great to have more help as we could then offer more opportunities for our swimmers.

The coming year looks set to be one of challenge and change for the Club – our gala squads have some tough competition in the Herts Major League and we have a full programme of swimming events on the BASC calendar. It is therefore very important that our swimmers attend their sessions regularly and train properly. There will also be quite a lot of change in committee membership and other administrative roles in the Club. I believe that we have built a strong foundation but it is important that we continue to change and evolve as a Club in order to maintain our success. As many of you will know, I am standing down as Chair of BASC after four years and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has worked with me over that time for their help and support. I will still be teaching poolside and look forward to seeing the club grow and prosper still further in the future.
