The club website continues to be an important means of communicating information to all our members, regarding swim times, gala information and results, badge timetables and successes, social activities and anything else we feel may be relevant. We would encourage you to visit it on a regular basis to keep abreast of what is going on.
The major change on the website this year was one that is not visible to most of our members. We introduced an ‘Attendance Database’ with pages to allow the teachers to enter the attendances for their classes directly. We have then been able extract the information into the off-line membership database to help analyse where we might be able to take on new swimmers from our sizeable waiting list.
On a less happy note, we were obliged to remove the Guestbook due to the nature of some of the items being posted. If we are able to find a way to administer it more securely or trace who is posting items we will look to re-instate it. (If there are any website development experts in our ranks who might be able to give guidance on this, please come and talk to me).
Overall during 2006 the site had over 19,500 visits (up on the 17,000 visits of 2005), so it does look as though people are finding it useful. The visit statistics for the site are shown below by month.
