In March we held the annual dinner dance where we were able to celebrate 80years of BASC and recognise the contribution of Dick Earley who had been involved in coaching at the club for over 30 years.
We had a number of events, which included a 10-pin bowling evening, several theatre trips including trips to London and The Palace Theatre in Watford.
The annual BBQ was once again held at the Bushey Manor School. We were blessed with another hot summer’s day, with great food and lots of parents relaxing with a cool beer or a glass of wine, and the children enjoying the fun and games, parents-v-kids ‘Tug of War’ and delicious BBQ’d food.
In October we held the annual quiz night, with over 130 people attending, once again the anoraks won the quiz, while the rest of us slowly but surely got merry on the free flowing beer and wine. A big thank you to Jon and Janet for organising both the BBQ and Quiz night.
We held a charity swim in October where we asked the children to get friends and family to sponsor them to swim as many lengths as possible. We had a very good response with 50 swimmers taking part and collectively they raised over £1700, which was presented to a local charity “Sea Lions”.
We view the social side of the club as important as the swimming and we are always looking for people to come forward to help out in any way in organising an event. If you would like to get together with a group of friends to join the Social Committee, talk to Paul Scott.
Please take a look at our web site to see the social events being organised for 2007.
