Club Championships

Numbers competing in the Club Championships increased again in 2006. An average of 103 swimmers entered each of the three club championship swims compared to 91 last year and 80 in 2004. 57 swimmers entered the 200 metre competition, 2 less than last year.

5 Club Championship records were broken

165 speed awards were gained

41 club records

438 personal best times were achieved

As usual there was a lot of competition in the under 12 girls with 32 different swimmers entering the races. Only one swimmer gained maximum points another 5 swimmers getting close to a possible maximum. One disappointment was that out of 154 different swimmers during the year only 30 entered every race they were able to.

The five records broken during the year were:

Girls U8 12m Free Hannah Rose 10.56 sec (Charlotte Henson 11.17 2002)

Girls U8 12m Back Hannah Rose 12.59 sec (Charlotte Henson 13.56 2002)

Boys U8 12m Back Alex Raw 13.72 sec (Harry Edwards 13.93 2004)

Boys U14 100m Breast Andrew Sewell 1.24.57 (Peter Ridout1.27.26 2005)

Boys O17 100m I.M. Stuart Long 1.08.45 (Stuart Long 1.08.48 2005)

Congratulations to all of our record breakers and as usual a big thank you to those who have helped make the events run smoothly. The first Club Championships for 2007 are just a few weeks away on 11th March please try to enter in February before the half term holidays.

Other championship dates are 30th June and 18th November. The 200m competition is on 6th May
