Gala Report

During the last 12 months the club took part in 17 Galas these ranged from the Herts Major League, NFT meets to C grade novice galas. 103 swimmers represented the club during the year and many for the first time. This is an amazing number given the size of the club

This has been a mixed year for the club during which the senior squad struggled to maintain its position in the second division, mainly due to the system used by the league in allocating points even though we came first and second in two of the 3 galas. That said the league has now introduced a much fairer system following representation from many clubs. For the first time we were also in a position to put out a second squad who again did very well. Congratulations must go to the junior squad who achieved an excellent 4^th place in the Peanut league, Division 2. We again entered the Chiltern League and there were some excellent swims and in addition it allowed us to introduce many new swimmers to the competitive side of swimming for the first time but adding a fun edge to it. All swimmers can be justly proud of the effect and commitment shown at all the events during the year.

Again the support given by the parents both in the stands and on poolside has been excellent but we are always on the lookout for more willing volunteers. On behalf of the team we would like to take this opportunity to thank the out going Club Captains Eva Waddup and Daniel Evans for all their hard work.

2007 will be a challenging and busy period with the Club having entered over 20 Gala’s. On a brighter note we have decided to enter the Club into the National Speedo League, this will be a very demanding event which will require a considerable amount of hard work and commitment from all those selected to swim
