2004 was socially a very busy year! The year began with a Theatre Trip to see “We Will Rock You” which was a fantastic theatre. This was organised by the “retiring” Social Committee – so a big thank you to Helen Lawley, Carole Cunningham, Sarah Harris and Sarah Spreadbury.
The next social event that followed was a night out at Hollywood Bowl where everyone was mixed into teams with new and old friends. There were teams of children and adults - over 80 people attended this event and it really was a fun night. It proved to be such a successful night that we hope to organise another night during 2005.
In July we organised a Family BBQ at Bushey Manor School this proved to be more successful that we ever anticipated! The weather did help - it was a spectacular Summer’s day. The Bouncy Castle and trampoline kept children amused along with the tug of war competition organised by Phil Sweetman. The great thing about the BBQ was all the support the committee received during the day, especially with cooking and tidying up. Once again this is an event we hope to repeat this year.
The Quiz Night has now become an annual event! It is a time for adults to put their thinking caps on and try and win the Quiz – and believe me the questions are not easy!!! This event in October is always well attended and is our biggest fund raising event for the club. The money raised at this event goes towards Teachers courses. Thank you to everyone who brought family and friends along and start getting your tables organised for this year!
To end the year we booked 100 Pantomime tickets for “Mother Goose” at the newly refurbished Watford Palace Theatre. Both adults and kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was a great night to end a great year.
Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to some very special people Sian Edwards, Kerry Hardstaff, Liz Hughes and Sandra James, they have helped throughout the year organise these events and they have helped on the desk for four consecutive weeks at the beginning of each term.
Sadly Sandra James will not longer be able to help, so we are looking for other helpers. Everyone seems to like getting together socially with old friends and making new friends especially the children, so to make this possible we need help. Please contact me or Sian Edwards if you can help in anyway, it needn’t be for every social event.
We have not currently finalised events for 2005 however, we aim to do this shortly so keep an eye on the website diary.
