Gala Report

During the last 12 months the club took part in 16 Galas, these ranged from the Herts Major League, NFT meets to C grade novice galas. Over 65 swimmers represented the club and many for the first time.

This has been somewhat of a difficult year for the club during which the senior squad just managed to maintain its second division status finishing 9th overall in the Herts Major League. As for the junior squad having performed excellently the year before to attain promotion to the top flight, the step up in class was noticeable and despite a valiant effect from all the swimmers we were relegated back to the second division for the 2005 season. That said all swimmers can be justly proud of the effect and commitment shown at all the events during the year.

Again the support given by the parents both in the stands and on poolside has been excellent but we are always on the lookout for more willing volunteers. On behalf of the team we would like to take this opportunity to thank the out going Club Captains Alice Cheng and Stacie Long for all their hard work.

2005 will again be a challenging and busy period for the Club with many of our older swimmers moving on to pastures green. We wish them all well, a special mention must however must go to Katherine Evans and Robin Willis who have been excellent ambassadors for the club over the years and will be sorely missed. On a brighter note we have rejoined the Chiltern League that will allow many more swimmers to represent the Club this year.

Unfortunately due to work commitments I will be giving up the post of Gala Team Manager from April 05 and handing the gauntlet over to Adrian Edwards. On looking back over the years the one overriding memory I will take with me is the unbelievable enthusiasm and commitment shown by all the swimmers. I would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the swimmers old and new and all the poolside staff for the support you have given me during the last few years.
