Badges Report

The speed award badge scheme continued to be popular last year providing a great incentive for swimmers to work towards achieving personal goals.

In 2017, 66 badge awards and 247 stroke flashes were bought, a slight increase on last year. This is non-profit making for the club.  Badges are sold at cost price purely to provide incentive for the swimmers to improve their times, enjoy striving towards personal goals (and for parents to practise their sewing!)

Speed awards can be gained when swimmers achieve target times set by the ASA, in events held under ASA rules.  i.e. Club championships, galas, time trials and open meets.  The target times for these awards and whether you have achieved them can be found by looking on the website under ‘Swimtimes’.

Once a target time is reached, I will hand you a badge slip which allows you to buy the relevant badges.

Once a swimmer has attained an award in all 4 strokes and IM, their certificate will then be presented at the next AGM. We currently offer sprint awards for times achieved in events up to 100m, but middle distance awards for times in 200m/400m events and distance awards for 800m/1500m can also be bought if wanted.

If you have any questions regarding the badge scheme, have not kept up to date with buying badges or would like any replacing, please do come and ask me.
