Awards]
We now move to the bit you have been waiting for - when we recognise the achievements of all our club swimmers and present awards to a large proportion of them to mark their endeavour and success. I am pleased to welcome Wendy Cook our President to join us to present tonight's awards.
A special reminder to the winners: some of these awards (the cups and shields) are only yours for a year many of them are very old and some are very valuable. Please do look after them treat them with care and clean them with the proper cleaning materials. If you get one of these awards, you will get an insurance statement that needs to be signed and returned to the Treasurer immediately. Because you cannot keep these trophies we will at next years AGM give you a replica award and certificate to mark the achievement the replicas and certificates for our 2014 trophy winners are over there waiting for collection.
Also if you receive an award and are no longer a member of the club, we have special replica awards and certificates for you to collect tonight.
Speed Award Certificates (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
During 2015 the club has continued to monitor progress of our swimmers using the ASA Sprint Awards. The times are shown on the club website.
When a swimmer achieves the qualifying times in all four competitive strokes and the individual medley we present them with their certificate at the Annual Awards Ceremony. Club Championships Records:
As usual we held three Club Championships during the year. Points are awarded for each event and the overall age group winner for the boys and for the girls respectively is presented with the age group award. However special mention goes to those swimmers who on the night of the club champs swim the fastest time recorded at the club championships for that event.
We had several championship records broken at the club champs. The full list of new club championship records is shown below. We have certificates to mark these achievements to present to the swimmers concerned.

Most Improved Swimmer Cup: -
The recipient of this award may be a surprise to some as he is already one of our top swimmers with many club records, championships records and other awards to his name. However being one of the best does not mean that you cant improve. Being an older swimmer does not mean that you cannot improve. Our winner of the most improved swimmer cup is evidence that PBs can come through training well, not just through growth.
This years winner of the most improved cup has improved his own times throughout the year and has broken an amazing 18 Club and Championship records throughout the year. Last year was also the first year he qualified for Counties as well as Regionals. The winner is:
Jack Jackson.
Endeavour Plaques: -
We also like to recognise swimmers who consistently work hard in training and always approach swimming with a positive mind set. We have tried to select one boy and one girl from Amos 1, 2, Transition, Baker, Cook, Dowse and Erica for an Endeavour plaque.

Overall Endeavour Award (Bill Dowse Goblet): -
We now need to present the overall endeavour award. This swimmer consistently attends all hours of training per week and tries his hardest each session. This swimmers training standards has dramatically improved over the last year and now often leads the top squad session. Hes always had a lot of potential and Im sure if he keeps up his standard in training he will be at Regionals in a few years. This years Bill Dowse Goblet goes to
Nick Stockwell.
Club Performance Awards: -
We also like to recognise those swimmers who consistently perform to a high standard in training and at galas. This year we have tried to select one boy and one girl from each age group.

Tony Amos Cup: -
Since 2002 because Tony Amos was very much associated with the non-swimming end of the pool, the award has been based around the younger swimmers either swimmer of the year or most promising young swimmer. I can reveal that this young man has proved himself to be most promising young swimmer in the club, ever since he joined we knew there was potential and Im sure he will really grow and develop as the years go on. He joined the club with a screw leg kick on breastroke and with the great work of the teachers at St Margarets Jules Henderson & Charlie Wray a few months later it has been fully corrected. He has since then moved through two squads and has impressed every teacher that has taught him with his enthusiasm and beautiful technique. He is a very quick learner and an absolute pleasure to coach. This years Tony Amos cup goes to:
Jake Gourd.
Chairmans Shield: -
This next award is for the swimmer who has achieved the best results in Open Events.
Open events are classified as events that are open to any registered ASA swimmer and NOT internal or Club gala events. There were a lot of excellent swims in Open Meets in 2015 and the decision this year was not easy. We had a number of swimmers at County Championships, one swimmer at Regional Championships and 4 swimmers at Winter Regional (open age group) Championships. However, we had a first (to my knowledge) in the history of the club where a club trained girl competed in the Winter Regional Championships. She swam an excellent PB and new Club Record the morning after setting a PB and Club Record in the same event at Club Championships, showing she can rise to the occasion. For this excellent achievement, the award goes to:
Aisha Jones
Performance: -
Im now going to hand you over to this years club captains; Chiara Brown, Ella Bailey & Mia Springer who have chosen this years gala performance award for one girl and one boy. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank them for their efforts this year. They have done an amazing job marshalling the swimmers and supporting the coaches and ensuring the galas run smoothly.
Gala Performance Girls Award: - Kiki Gallimore
Gala Performance Boys Award: - Nick Stockwell
Vice-Chairmans Shield: -
This next award is based on contribution to the club. So many people make such great contributions to the club that it is always a challenge to single one out for recognition. This year has been more difficult than ever. So we gave up and decided to award the shield to two members. They have both transformed the way that the club operates behind the scenes, ensuring that we are financially viable and follow good governance. They both extended their initial 3-year terms of office and have undertaken their roles tirelessly for 6 years. To be honest, I didnt want to award this shield to them in the hope that they would stay on for ever. Alas, all good things come to end and they are both retiring from the committee this year. Beyond their committee contributions they have both helped on the poolside too one as a swimmer and one as a teacher. A huge congratulations and thanks to both of them.
This year the Vice-Chairmans Shield is awarded to:
Clare Marett & Judith Charman
Presidents Cup: -
This next award goes to overall swimmer of the year based on whoever got maximum club championship points. Not only did this swimmer receive maximum points but he also received five club championship records, the presidents cup goes to:
Jack Jackson
Willis Shield: -
Now for our newest addition, the Willis shield which was awarded for the first time two years ago. Its for somebody whos involvement and commitment to swimming and general contribution to the club. This years Willis Shield goes to
Jack Jackson
Gala Awards: -
We like to give recognition to anyone
who has represented Bushey at a swimming gala, a way of saying thank you
as without you guys we wouldnt hold our current league positions that
the club has worked so hard to maintain. Whether you have swam in Herts
Major League, Peanuts, Arena or the Isabel Galas we would like to
present to you an award to mark your commitment, performance and
reliability.
