2002 Poolside Report

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and swimmers for their patience during the problems with the tiling at Bushey Grove Pool. This did impact on our schedule, but we still managed to have a very successful year.

It is very satisfying to see the improvements the swimmers have made during the last year through their effort and enthusiasm. A lot of swimmers have progressed to new classes this year – well done. Don’t forget that the criteria used for moving up a class are:

Ř      Correct stroke execution

Ř      The necessary stamina needed for the next class

Ř      Regularity of attendance

Ř      Speed (only applicable to the swimmers swimming lengths)

We are a swimming club and not swimming lessons so to make the most of you swimming join in the other swimming activities during the year – club championships, style competitions, badges, time trials, inter club galas and our Summer & Christmas fun galas (and dare I mention the adult v swimmers gala)

During 2002 we have been promoting the ASA Sprint awards. These awards are a great way to demonstrate how your speed is improving. If you haven’t joined up see Jane.

Well done to all the swimmers who entered the Junior and Senior Style competitions. As a club we have always had a reputation for producing swimmers with good ‘style’, it was a pleasure to see that both of those events were of such high standard.

I would like to thank all the teachers for giving up so much of their time to the club (the club is run on an entirely voluntary basis. We always need extra help on poolside so if you would like to become involved poolside then please come and talk to me. There are lots of ways in which you can help teaching is only opportunity.
