BASC has had a very busy year for club competitions with three Club Championship events, 3 Time Trials and the 200m/400m Freestyle, 200m IM and 800m/1500m Freestyle competitions.
Over 120 swimmers entered the various Club Champs competitions, covering over 500 swims between them. They achieved 18 new club championships records as well as 20 Club records and over 400 personal bests – an amazing achievement by our swimmers. Many congratulations to our new record holders and to all our swimmers for their personal achievements at Club Championships.
Our Time Trials events continue to be licensed so that the times achieved can be used for entries into County Championships. We also licensed some Club Champs events for the same purpose.
We must also say a big ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who has helped with the running of our Club competitions; they are a vital part of our swimmers’ preparation for representing BASC in external galas and we could not stage them without you! We always need more officials, especially as we are licencing many of our competitions. Please offer to help – it won’t take much of your time and gives you a much better view than being in the audience.
Please keep an eye on the “splash screen” on our website for details as to when entries open and please do not wait until the last minute before entering – it makes it much harder to gauge the entry size and therefore work out the heats and timings.

Parents and swimmers are reminded that we are a competitive club and swimmers are expected to enter internal competitions. Swimmers are also expected to swim for the club if lucky enough to be picked for one of our gala squads. Please support your club in this.
Thanks to all of the officials, helpers, whips, teachers, parents, and of course swimmers, for helping make our “job” so easy and fun.
Ruth has done a sterling job of getting the reminders out to everyone about when entries are Open and when they Close for our various events. We would like to find someone to take over the ‘back office’ side, to process the entries and produce the various documents we need for the officials at each meet. It is basically an Excel processing role and training and guidance notes will be given. If you feel you are able to help out in this role, please contact me.
