Gala Report

In 2014 many swimmers from Bushey ASC represented the club in a variety of leagues and internal club Gala’s.

Each calendar year is always a busy one yet the club has gone from strength to strength in terms of performance and swimming standard in the year of 2014.  We’ve seen swimmers swim in their first ever galas which they thoroughly enjoyed and it’s been particularly warming to see our regular gala swimmers give the ‘newbies’ their full care and support.  Our gala swimmers have had a big challenge this year with many of them being bottom of their age groups therefore their competitors have tended to be a lot older than them however this pushed them even harder into achieving good placing’s and even better personal best times.

The gala events we entered in 2014 were:

-        Herts Major League

-        Herts Peanuts League

-        Goldstone Gala

-        Isabel Gala

-        National Arena League

We are proud as a club to continue to be able to enter these leagues, divisions that we have worked hard to achieve throughout the clubs history.  We once again entered two teams into Hertfordshire Major League with swimmers in both the A and B teams swimming well.  We also ran a successful Peanuts league which caters for the: 9, U11, U12 and U13 age groups.  We had a great yield of swimmers which shows how well the coaching down our younger swimming end is running.  The National Arena Swimming League was probably one of the toughest years ever in terms of the high standard of other clubs but we saw an improvement in our relay times and individual events from last year.  We also performed well in smaller galas such as the Goldstone where we came 2nd.

We would like to thank all swimmers that have represented the club during the year of 2014 and as a result we have seen the birth and continued improvement of some superb individuals.  This wouldn’t be possible without the full support from parents, officials, club captains and of course our coaches.  We would also like to acknowledge the support our swimmers have received from all of our helpers and volunteers on poolside, we could not have done it without the many hours of time that they put in with the club.

Finally, we would like to congratulate all of the swimmers and would like to encourage them to keep training hard so we can have an even more successful competitive year in 2015.
