Chair's Report

Bushey ASC has continued to progress in so many ways in the last year. Our membership remains stable and we continue to attract new members to the club at a steady rate. Our swimmers’ progress is really pleasing. Club championship

and age group records continue to fall as the swimmers improve their technique and speed through focus on training and effective teaching. We have encouraged a number of parents to qualify as swim teachers, and many of our existing teachers have undertaken further training. We have also been successful in recruiting new swim officials and Bushey ASC is now well known in the county and beyond for its strong team of qualified swim officials who help out at a wide range of county and inter-club meets. We have retained our Swim21 accreditation for another year. We have also achieved our aim to have more social events for our club families and I am very grateful to our social committee and all the helpers that made our summer Fundraiser in particular such a successful event. On the club finances, we have made good progress with establishing our new payment arrangements, although sadly we are still finding that a significant number of swimmers are not paying their fees in time which makes more work for our Membership Secretary and Treasurer in having to

chase missing payments.

Looking forward we have already started 2012 well with strong performances by both squads in the first round of the Hertfordshire Swimming League. We have a lot of galas and social events programmed for the coming year so please do

check the calendar on the website to make sure you do not miss out on any of them. And later this month we are extending our pool time on Sundays with a move to St Margaret’s for some of our afternoon classes. As ever, if you have

suggestions and ideas about what more we can do as a club please do let us know – and we always welcome new volunteers in all capacities. Finally, a huge thank you to all the swim teachers, officials, committee members and other

volunteers who keep Bushey ASC running so successfully – let’s make 2012 the Club’s best year yet!
