Club Championships

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
BASC has run 3 very busy, even hectic, and successful Championship galas this year, with entry numbers averaging 106 and continuing the upward trend of recent years. Our swimmers achieved great things during those galas with:

8 NEW CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP RECORDS
119 speed awards
28 club records
359 personal best times – 78 of these to the U12 girls!

Again the competition was greatest among the U12 girls with 35 swimmers scoring Championship points during the year. 3 swimmers scored maximum points over the year and others came close to doing so with consistent performances in all our galas. Championship records were broken at all 3 galas this year and a particular mention must go to George Henson who set new records at all three! The records broken were:

1^st Club Championships on 11^th March

Many congratulations to our new record holders and to all our swimmers for their personal achievements at Club Championships. 

DISTANCE COMPETITIONS

200m – 77 swimmers entered this year, a number which had the organisers in quite a sweat! The event ran very smoothly on the day, with swimmers achieving 7 age group records and qualifying for 28 speed awards.

 

1500m – 25 swimmers took part in the 1500m swim at the beginning of December; 22 of them set new personal best times and there were 5 new age group records.

Both of these events will be held at Bushey Grove on Saturday evenings in 2008.

We must also say a big ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who has helped with the running of our Club competitions; they are a vital part of our swimmers’ preparation for representing BASC in external galas and we could not stage them without you!

1st Club Championships	Sunday 24th February (Entry forms available from mid January. Entries close 17th February)
200m Competition	Saturday 17th May (Entries close 4th May)
2nd Club Championships	Sunday 15th or 29th June (to be confirmed when Peanuts gala date known)
3rd Club Championships	Sunday 23rd November
1500m Competition	Saturday 6th December
